A BAFTA and EMMY nominee, and winner of both a Gold Clio Award and an International Music & Sound Award in 2013, Lester has scored many documentary and drama productions during his career and in recent years has become well known for his work in children’s television and advertising.
Lester scored 4 series (208 episodes) of the hit ITV title Horrid Henry, wrote music for the stage show Horrid Henry Live & Horrid and songs for Horrid Henry’s Most Horrible Album (EMI), also used in the feature film. In 2014/5, Lester scored 26 x 30 minute episodes of Iconicles, and is currently working on Footy Pups, both hit series on CBeebies.
Other credits include Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies (UK and US), Claude, The Roly Mo Show and Me Too! Between 2002 and 2004, Lester scored 3 series of Paz the Penguin for Discovery Kids (US). The series was very well regarded and Lester was Emmy Nominated 3 years in succession.
In advertising, Lester has worked on projects for prestigious clients such as Airbus, Goodyear, Reebok and Swatch, and his themes have been used in global campaigns for Cow and Gate, Pampers and other international brands. His ingenious re-arrangement of Come On Eileen for Cow & Gate won Lester the Gold Clio and the International Music & Sound Award 2013, amongst many other awards.
Song production credits include string arrangements for Begin Again, Oscar Nominated for Best Original Song in the 2015 (for the film Lost Stars with Keira Knightly). His big band and string arrangements feature on Peter Andre’s chart topping 2015 album Come Fly with Me.
Lester has always had a fascination with synthesizers and interest in electronic music. Over the past 20 years has been building one of Europe’s biggest modular synthesizers. Lester attended the Bromley Youth Music Trust and studied saxophone and composition the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under John Harle and Francis Shaw (A Room with a View).
